Does anyone think that the Seattle Seahawks will have no potential next year?
Personally, I hate the Seattle Seahawks. My father asked me that after this. So give me your opinion on the Seahawks. Was it a mistake to trade Shaun Alexander? Will they make the playoffs? Just give me your input on the team in general. Thank you.
In terms of regular-season record, Seattle has been the best NFC team since he joined the National Conference in 2001. 6 playoff appearances and 5 division titles since Mike Holmgren took over in 1999. If the team not in a market so small that it easily would be a most respected franchises in the NFL. They peaked in 2005, that dominated the NFL in a static way, but got a little screwed over the Super Bowl. Since then there have still been quite good, the passing of a number of injuries decimated in 2006 by the Bears in the NFC Champion OT in the playoffs. In 2007 he won its fourth consecutive division title and had his fourth straight season with a win in the playoffs (just a run of the Patriots have won since 2002), despite not run the game at all. Since retired Favre, Matt Hasselbeck is probably the best QB in the NFC, despite his age, Walter Jones is still considered the best offensive tackle in the NFL, according to experts. On defense, Kerney was # 2 in the NFL in sacks last year and the trio of Julian Peterson, Lofa Tatupu and Leroy Hill make up the absolute best starting point of the LB corps in the NFL. Seattle's defense has the most sacks of any team but the Giants since 2005 and was # 6 in scoring defense last year, in contrast to # 22 in 2006 and # 4 in 2005. The deep Deon Grant and Brian Russell have transformed the way the defense of one of the worst in 2006 to one of the best in 2007 (# 1 in passing TDs allowed in 2007), and Marcus Trufant is one of the 5 best corners in the NFL according to experts. Seattle rarely drew attention long before 2005 or praise, but have since been recognized as one of the best teams in the NFC. They might have lost some offensive firepower from its peak in 2005, defense, but his star has become one of the best in the NFL and should seek to send their future Hall of Fame coach with Lombardi trophy this year. I think Alexander should have hung on for another year, but Seattle completely revamped its school after 2006 (got rid of the starter Kelly Herndon, Ken Hamlin and Michael Boulware and brought Deon Grant and Brian Russell) and led to them last year as one of the best in the NFL. Seattle has had many problems with their o-line from loss Steve Hutchinson and Robbie Tobeck in 2006, but former pro bowler Mike Wahle and heads or former line coach Mike Solari must help transform this unit into one that is respectable. Seattle should do quite easily make the playoffs this year and be in the race for another conference title and the Super Bowl last year if Holmgren is what he and Seattle fans are hoping it will be. If not, its still hard to imagine losing their division crown with his defense, and after winning in 2006 despite Matt Hasselbeck lost for 8 weeks and Shaun Alexander, 6. No matter how you slice it, Seattle has been the most consistently good team in the NFC since divisions were realigned in 2001, placing no worse than 2nd in the NFC West since joining the division, and the publication of only two losing seasons in the last 10 years. It's a team that knows how to win, which is evidenced by the players to pick in the draft (Tim Ruskell likes to go after character type high-tech who have proven themselves to be multi-year starters in college against highly touted guys – Lofa Tatupu is a perfect example, as are the current rookie Lawrence Jackson and John Carlson) and via free agency (Julian Peterson, Patrick Kerney, Deon Grant, Brian Russell, Mike Wahle, Julius Jones and everyone wanted to come to Seattle for its reputation as a team of high character who is always competing in the playoffs, although most often offered money to play elsewhere). Overall, the Seahawks have always been one of the best teams in the NFC in recent years and seems unlikely to change with Mike Holmgren in his final year. I hope to win 11 + games this year and make another run deep into the playoffs, hopefully ending with winning the Super Bowl. Once Holmgren retires, they will have to work a little harder and soon you will to find the heirs of Walter Jones and, finally, Matt Hasselbeck, but the defense should be one of the best in the coming years with young stars Marcus Trufant, Kelly Jennings, Lofa Tatupu, LeRoy Hill, Darryl Tapp, Lawrence Jackson and Brandon Mebane, all under the age of 30. Having their coach for 2009 should have already picked help with the transition, but now you can bet that they are focusing on this year and whatever happens to take for them to send their coach with a Lombardi trophy.
