FOXBORO – Are you ready for some football?
No, I mean the things we have spoiled much of the last decade.
New England Patriots against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. I'm talking about Tom Brady against Peyton Manning. I mean the advantage.
From a Patriots standpoint, it seems a long time coming, huh?
Brady is officially healthy. Randy Moss and Wes Welker is the most lethal of long-short combined receive in the NFL, if ever. And the defense of New England Patriots, at worst, is good.
All of the above can be shown through the view or the statistical analysis.
Brady has completed 75 percent of his passes and thrown to over 300 meters for three consecutive weeks. Moss and Welker have combined for 105 catches, 1,280 yards and nine touchdowns (remember, Welker missed two games). And the Patriots have allowed only 14.3 points per game, third lowest in the NFL.
href = "http://www.sportsbetting.com/" target = "_blank" title = "Bet NFL"> The Patriots are halfway home in 2009 and have to admit, in at 6-2 after yesterday's 27-17 victory over the Dolphins Miami, everything seems in place.
The Patriots are more or less where we expected. Good and improving.
Enter Manning and the Colts undefeated.
Gone are the Titans, London and the attack trick. The Patriots have officially taken firm grasp of the AFC East division after a season hiatus, and now seems ready for prime time.
Now they are back in familiar territory, when the Patriots and the Colts was a settling of accounts.
The two quarterbacks, Brady and Manning are on top of their games, with 15 touchdown passes and only four interceptions each.
The Patriots have scored 225 217 points against the Colts. The Colts have allowed 108 points against the Patriots 115.
What is interesting about the 2009 version of the Patriots and the Colts is that or is blowing away the competition.
Yesterday, the Colts cut the Houston Texans, 20-17, to go 31 / 2 games over the AFC South. The Patriots had some easier time, but it was not easy to get a two-game lead in the Dolphins second.
"We had opportunities. (The Patriots) had opportunities. In the end, is played more than us, "said Dolphins defensive end, Jason Taylor." Trust me, I've seen for a long time. There is different types (the list), but the normal pattern of characters, with Tom (Brady), Bill Belichick, Randy Moss, Wes Welker. … The main types are still there. "
Taylor could have been talking about the Colts. They have a new coach and a few men in the new offensive line. But nothing has really changed with the likes of Manning, Reggie Wayne, Dwight Clark Dwight Freeney and the Colts leading to 17 consecutive wins in regular season.
"I think all what you have to play a great game to win, "Brady said, referring to next week's game at Indianapolis." You can not go around with her " B-game 'because it will not beat these guys. They are good. You can run the pin. Cover. Obviously, they can score lots of points.
The irony is that in previous seasons, the anticipation of a Colts Patriots game in November began in September.
But at least the Patriots' perspective, there was too much work to do.
Well, now we have done and done fairly well.
It's time to see if the Patriots are better than good. It's time for prime time.
